I am working furiously on one WIP ... the husband's sweater ... so that I can start the KAL with one less project piling in the basket.
If you are going to swatch, it would be best to swatch the Lily of the Valley pattern to try out the wonderful tips Debi gave us on nupps, just to see which one you like most. To add to those, you can read this from Amelia:
"My method for working the nupps was as follows: K into front, back, front, back of stitch. Return all 4 sts to L needle. K 2 tog twice. Lift the first of these sts over the second and off R needle. Nupp complete. The attentive among you may note that this creates a four- rather than five-stitch nupp, but this is easy to work and not, I believe, to the detriment of the appearance."
Last but not least, I present to you Katrina with her first Forest Path Stole on her wedding day:

Stunning Katrina! Just lovely!
I was reading some blogs last night and when I got to Anna's blog (her name is Anna, her blog is Amelia Riatte) I couldn't believe the coincidence that she posted about nupps too! Anna is a fabulous designer, good to know great minds think alike :) :)
I really don't mind the nupps... but I do mind not having this sweater done! i too am trying desperately to finish a husband sweater before Feb. 1!
Have to confess, I'm not quite organised enough to have marked the errata and swatched and finished the WIP that was to be done before starting... but I did wind up one ball of yarn last weekend while thinking about swatching... does that count as preparation?! : )
Back online finally after moving house. I have the yarn, I have the pattern and it has been sitting there waiting for me for a week! I couldn't touch it because of unpacking. I was losing my nerve until I saw Katrina's shawl. Thanks Katrina, just stunning. House is still a mess but I need to knit. thanks for the nup tips.
I recently joined the Yahoo Laceknitters group and the FPS is becoming a topic. A woman named Glynda has knit this and posted a link to the "previous stoles" page of her blog - http://skytoucher.com/glyndab/?page_id=42. What a gorgeous inspiration!
I will admit I gave that group the url for this knit along - hope I didn't do anything wrong...
Hey Leslie, don't worry about that! Everyone, joining or not joining the KAL, is welcome here. Right, Debi?
Actually, I google the name of the stole from time to time to see if something new would come up and I got to Glynda's page ... and her lace projects are stunningly inspirational!
Of course everyone is welcome! The point of the KAL is sharing the experience so the more the merrier!
is there a swatch pattern or is everyone just trying the 3 patterns? thanks
I have tried a few things with this come see http://yarningforsocks.blogspot.com/
